is to make sure you keep the wick trimmed to a ¼
of an inch in length. If the wick is aloud to get larger
than a ¼ of an inch there will be a tendency for
it to burn faster and smoke. If you are noticing black soot
accumulating on your container candles, the wick is probably
far too long. .
2. Put your candles in the refrigerator:
Did you know that candles which are cold will burn slower.
The technique to cool your candle, is too first wrap it
in foil or cling wrap to prevent the wick from absorbing
any moisture. Pop them in the fridge for about an hour and

How to Run Your Candle Making Business More Efficiently!
Placing candles in drafty areas can cause uneven burning
and excessive smoking. Not to mention that your candle will
burn very much faster. If you notice that the candle flame
is flickering in any direction other than straight up, then
there is a draft. Prevent your candles being effected by
drafts by keeping burning candles away from heating and
air-conditioning vents as well as open windows.
4. Burn the candles longer
Especially, for pillar candles, make sure you burn them
for at least one hour for every inch in diameter. If you
skip this step, you will end up burning a tunnel through
your candle!
5. Always put out the flame
A candle snuffer works best to blow out the candle. If
you don’t have a candle snuffer readily available,
you can blow out the candle by placing an index finger in
front of the flame and blowing gently. This causes the air
to surround the flame and minimizes splattering of hot wax
from the wax pool.
Americans in this area and around the nation are in the midst of collectively "blowing out" 232 candles - with each candle representing one year of independence - on our national birthday cake.

D.C.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) voted
unanimously to ban the manufacture and sale of lead-cored
wicks and candles with lead-cored wicks. CPSC determined
that candles using lead-cored wicks could present a lead
poisoning hazard to young children. The federal ban, which
applies to all domestic and imported candles, should deter
manufacturers from making non-conforming wicks.
Note: When purchasing make sure the wicks
don't have lead in them
Tip: If wax has spilled on the carpet for any reason,
the best way to remove it is with paper and an iron. Place
a paper towel or brown grocery bag over the spot. Place
the heated iron over the paper towel. The heat from the
iron will cause the wax to melt and be absorbed into the
paper towel.
